There is nothing wrong with your signal. Content is coming through without interruption. The Station is conducting random style changes.

Well, I continue to futz around with the look of the place. Again, since the changes primarily consist of a single file change (the style sheet), I’m currently finding it nearly irresistable to try new looks. I did manage to hack into the current style a bit and render the colors a bit more readable. Right now, I am shooting for a more stripping down, straight-forward look. Uncluttered.

Additionally, as I try new stylesheets, I discover that some of them don’t work so well with my site – oftentimes it’s because the code my other main file (the content file, you could say) isn’t as clean as it should be. So, the changes are also helping me come to terms with learning CSS, PHP and building a more efficient site in general.
I appreciate your patience as I tweak away at the site.

Well, well. It looks like I’ve touched some hotpoints for discussions recently, between the “France This …” and “War … Peace … What’s the Difference”. The latter just popped up to 16 comments, making it the new Most Commented piece on the blog. The former is just one comment under the last “Most Commented” piece. Both of them have to do with world politics and such. The old champion has to do with my favorite coffeeshop, Jahva House, closing.

What does this tell me?

It tells me ya’all aren’t talking enough about the place(s) where I drink coffee, but you just can’t seem to restrain yourself from taking potshots at my perfectly agreeable political opinions. Sheeesh … some people.

I may have to re-categorize the blog, and start putting some items under “Politics”, “World News” or something like that. Or at least put them under “Rantings” (cause they pretty much are) instead of “Ramblings”.

But, hey, mostly a thanks to those who commented. It’s much appreciated, and having folks agree, disagree, or just chat back is just, well, great. So, thanks again, all! :)

Well, you might have noticed a change to the look of the place. If you were sharp, or lucky, you might have noticed the style change quite a few times over the past couple days. I decided the do some summer cleaning. Get the dust off the blog. Try out some new looks. Understand this occasionally just slightly tougher than finding a new stylesheet, reviewing it in BBEdit (text editor) and saving it to my server. Occasionally I need to edit the index file a bit. That’s about it.

No, I can’t say it will stay looking like it does today either. Something else my catch my eye. Hopefully, it?s not too distracting for ya’all.

So, NBC has a new show – the 4400. It looked interesting to me as a fusion of modern superhero and X-files alien abduction. The premise is that 4400 people – abducted by aliens – are suddenly, mysteriously returned to Earth together, and each one has some superpower. Not a bad idea for a roleplaying game, if you ask me.

But, NBC decided that a great way to promote the show was to stencil “The 4400 are coming” on San Francisco sidewalks?. They obviously didn’t realize (or more likely, didn’t care) that it would be considered graffiti – especially as the stencils don’t easily wash off. I’m a little surprised that the action is still being fully decided. To me, this is obvious: NBC should be fined, quickly, both to cover the clean-up and to discourage further lawbreaking stunts.

I mean, it’s bad enough to deface public property as an ad campaign. The idea that tax payers should have to fund the clean-up is outrageous. I’d like to see the Marketing Execs (and the subcontractor Execs) who came up with the idea out there scrubbing (or power blasting) the stencils away. They, perhaps, they’ll get the message.

The ACLU has a fantastic movie which illustrates the effects of privacy – or lack thereof – and pervasive computing. If you?ve ever wondered why people want privacy if they?re not doing anything wrong, I highly recommend you give it a viewing.

Heck, I highly recommend you give it a viewing regardless.
