It looks like 2007 is the year I stop fighting the “foodie” label – although anytime described me as being a foodie, I still feel like I’m eating above my social class. Go figure.

The past week or so seem especially, er, foodie. Food-filled. Food-ish. Whatever. In no particular order (and mainly for the amusement of BaddKarmma):

  • Tried my first sake on the 16th (thanks to Anthony for picking one)
  • Tried my first eel (sushi), and ate way too much sushi in general on the 17th (thanks Wayne)
  • Tried my first oysters (raw) on the 23rd. along with a great meal at “B” (thanks to Ken Hite and Chris Bennett)
  • Cooked skillet lasgana a few weeks ago, and pasta with sausage, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and cream last night – both of which were declared seconds-worthy by my neighbors, the Heberts, who played guinnea pig

These being only the highlights that come to mind at the moment, mind you. Seems like the last 60 days have had lots of good meals.

None of which has pulled me from my “gruel diet”, mind you. ;)

Someone named “mike” linked back here, noting that:

I don’t think it’s a good sign when they guy who is supposed to be writing writing QuestWorlds spends his day at a game store demoing some other game.

I find it amusing, given I’m not supposed to be writing QuestWorlds at all. In fact, I haven’t had a contract to write QW since Jan ‘06. At this point, I’m not involved in the project at all, and I leave it to Moon Design Publishing to handle any discussions about the effort.

As a side-note, I’ll comment that I’m not obligated to spend every minute of my gaming time promoting / running only projects which I’m writing. I occasionally actually run and promote other things. I’m just sayin’ …

It comes as no surprise that I am a fan of the spreadsheet. Being an analytical sort, I’m all about the spreadsheet. Today, I spent time with conditional formatting (to spotlight extreme results) and heavy use of find and replace. Among a great many things. As one might expect, my spreadsheets often have to do with software licensing and procurement.

Thus far, it’s been about a full, dedicated day (8+ hrs) out of the last two working a series of three sheets.

Not that I’m complaining, mind you. But it does boggle the eyes after a bit …

There is a certain enjoyment, though, in being able (forced) to focus on a single set of tasks to the near exclusion of everything else. Somedays, you just need to forward the phone and focus.
