Ken Hite, gaming luminary, apparently enjoyed his recent guest appearance on my podcast, in Episode 12 of 2d6 Feet in a Random Direction. So much so that he had some very positive comments about the show and my recent DDC game (as well as DDC and “indie games” in general) on his Industry news column, Out of the Box.

Ken’s column is widely read, so it’s a heck of a kudo. The specific mention I garnered was:

“There’s plenty of the New Hotness to be found there, too, as you can tell if you listen to my guest appearance on the popular “2d6 Feet In A Random Direction” podcast. We discuss not only my own projects and whatnot, but the con, specifically podcast host Brian Isikoff’s slammin’ 28-person Legend of the Five Rings session. Pretty cool, if I do say so myself. And I do say so myself, in podcast form.”

Needless to say, thanks Ken! Glad you enjoyed being on the show.

I’m also pretty damn pleased to see that my local game store, EndGame, received much love from Ken as well. Ken, who had never been to the store, said:

” … I still found time to sneak off to EndGame, an amazing game store in Old Oakland Town. I’m here to tell you, if all game stores were as good, as well-lit, as interestingly stocked, and as professional (but I repeat myself) as EndGame, we’d be in a far better place come the next State of the Industry column.”

Damn nice praise, and congrats to EndGame. :)

Yes, well, I disappeared forabout 72 or so hours, thanks to the nasty chest cold I picked up. I started coming down with it on Wednesday around lunchtime (hoping it was just my allergies). Thursday early – stupid early – morning showed it was no such luck, and I was pretty much out of commission until Saturday evening, when I managed out (somewhat wobbly) for a dinner. Sunday’s been about even, considering its now drifted to a mild head cold. Go figure.

Luckily, I was able to stay at home and sleep for all those 72 hours. Not so luckily, I’m now behind on work and several other things, plus having missed my game at the EndGame minicon on Saturday.

All-in-all, I’ve had better weekends, that’s for sure. Still, I seem to be on the mend. Hooray!
