This August, as it turns out, is a month of change for me. The big change – which is precipitating many other, smaller changes – is on the work front. Namely, I have switched employers. The whole thing went down very professionally, of course, and I moved as a result of some exciting opportunities to advance my career. Yea, the day-job career in the exciting world of technology procurement. Not the other career as a beloved internet personality. Or the other, other career as a freelance writer. No, the first one … the one that actually pays my bills.
Today was the first day at the new job, and so it was into San Francisco (the new commute) to the office (the new office), new lunch, new colleagues (not that the old ones are by any means forgotten), yadda yadda. I haven’t worked in SF before. My office is right in the financial district (lower financial, to be exact … Beale St). The hustle of downtown SF is, shall we say, a bit different (more) than Oakland.
So, yea, that’s what’s new.
